Just in: Apple embeds in London concert hall

A partnership has been rolled out between Apple Classical and the indy chamber music venue Kings Place.

Press release:

Platoon Presents at Kings Place is a brand-new creative partnership forged by two pioneering organisations – the Apple-owned Platoon label, and Kings Place, one of London’s leading performing arts venues. Together they will present a series of imaginative live performances, showcasing the Platoon roster through contemporary, classical and spoken word genres, from both internationally-celebrated artists and emerging new voices.

Featuring programmes informed by albums on Platoon, the first series will launch on 18 January with a concert presenting a never-heard-before version of Vivaldi’s baroque masterpiece, The Four Seasons, performed by virtuoso violinist Daniel Pioro and the Manchester Camerata, and interspersed with new poetry by Sir Michael Morpurgo, recited by Stephen Fry. Also featured will be performances from poet and spoken word artist Suli Breaks, the Attacca Quartet, pianist-composer Belle Chen, composer-performers Stewart Copeland and Arash Safaian, alongside baritone James Newby with pianist Joseph Middleton and soprano Ruby Hughes with lutenist Jonas Nordberg.

Sam McShane, Artistic Director of Kings Place says: ‘Our new venture between Kings Place and Platoon represents a common vision in classical, contemporary and spoken word programming that places some of the world’s most innovative and celebrated artists on our stage throughout 2025. This collaboration of two progressive organisations seeks to connect with audiences in a way that simply wouldn’t be possible as two separate entities, showcasing the power of partnership – at a time where our music industry couldn’t need it more.’

The trailblazing label Platoon is responsible for launching the careers of world-renowned artists such as Billie Eilish, Victoria Monét and Ayra Starr. The multi-award and GRAMMY®-winning label identifies groundbreaking talent from around the world, while providing a platform from which artists can build their careers and reach new audiences. Platoon’s ethos serves to amplify a diverse roster of musical voices around the globe with current signings including Saint Harison, RZA, Dalia Stasevska, and Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil.

Kings Place has cemented itself as an adventurous music and arts venue, known for their bold programming, presentation of cross-arts collaborations and artistic relationships that deliver unique live experiences. The venue is the cultural hub of London’s thriving King’s Cross area – also home to Platoon’s studios. Kings Place is a curator on Apple Music Classical.
