Fairuz mourns composer son

The legendary Lebanese singer Fairuz, who is 90, is the mourning of her son, the composer Ziad Rahbani.

Ziad, who was 69, composed his first song for his mother when he was 17.  His best-known ballads include  “Kifak Inta” and “Bala Wala Shi.”

He enjoyed parallel success as an actor and playwright.

A Communist and atheist, he was often at odds with the authorities.
