1,400 Israeli artists call for immediate end to war

1,400 Israeli artists call for immediate end to war

A large group of the coutnry’s creatives have signed an open letter to prime minister Netanyahu, calling on him to end the humanitarian disaster in Gaza without delay. They say:

‘Before our eyes, a horror of historic proportions is taking place. We bear responsibility, as human beings and as Israelis, for the atrocities being committed in our name, just a few kilometers from us, in an impossible reality and under terrible suffering. We fear for the fate of Gaza’s residents, the hostages, our sons and daughters, and for the
future of our society’.

The signatories include the music director of Israel Opera Dann Ettinger (pic), fellow-conductors Asher Fisch and David Greilsammer, composers Haim Permont, Betty Olivero and Ella Sheriff, authors David Grossman and Etgar Keret and the ever-popular doyenne of Israeli song Chava Alberstein.
