Currentzis concertmaster dies, 51

Musica Aeterna has announced the detah of its concertmaster, Inna Prokopyeva-Rice. She will be laid to rest on Friday in St Petersburg.

The group, formed by Teodor Currentzis with Russian state funding, posted this message:

‘Inna, you will always be with us! She played in the orchestra literally from the very first rehearsal in 2004 until the last concerts. The whole life of musicAeterna – in Novosibirsk, Perm, St. Petersburg – is connected with Inna and without her it seems unthinkable.

‘For Inna, Musica Aeterna was the meaning of life, for which she gave herself completely to the last drop and to the last moment.’
