Just in: Barenboim jumps in for unwell Mehta

Just in: Barenboim jumps in for unwell Mehta

News from the Grafenegg Festival:

Zubin Mehta has had to cancel his appearance at the Grafenegg Festival on September 7. Daniel Barenboim will conduct the concert with Rudolf Buchbinder and the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria, with the program unchanged, thus celebrating his debut in Grafenegg.

Zubin Mehta is currently unable to travel to Europe. We wish Zubin Mehta a speedy return to concert halls and opera houses around the world and are delighted that Daniel Barenboim will conduct the concert in Grafenegg with the program unchanged, with Brahms’ Symphony No. 1 and Piano Concerto No. 1.

Rudolf Buchbinder: “I am, of course, deeply saddened that Zubin Mehta cannot make the trip to Grafenegg at the moment. The fact that Daniel Barenboim immediately agreed, at my request, to conduct the concert for our mutual friend, touches me deeply and fills me with great gratitude.”
