Three autumn projects from London Symphony Orchestra collaborators will bring choral theatre, multidisciplinary performance and orchestral jazz to LSO St Luke’s and the Barbican.
Tangram and vocal ensemble SANSARA begin with Chronicle at LSO St Luke’s on 30 and 31 August. Developed after its Aldeburgh Festival premiere, the work draws on poetry by six Chinese women writing across more than a millennium, combining new music with movement, text and visual design.
On 16 September, cellist, singer and composer Ayanna Witter-Johnson opens her Associate Artist residency with New Roots: First Light. Material from her forthcoming album becomes an intimate live exploration of ancestry, healing and renewal, joined by poet Inua Ellams, dancer Remi Ferdinand and presenter Ashley Joseph.
The sequence moves to the Barbican on 19 November, where Soweto Kinch and the LSO reunite under André de Ridder. Trilogy brings together The Black Peril, White Juju and Soundtrack to the Apocalypse, fusing orchestra, jazz, hip hop and spoken word.
