Rotterdam loses an ensemble

Rotterdam loses an ensemble

Message from Domestica Rotterdam:

Domestica will stop
After a long time of weeks and weighed a button: Domestica Rotterdam will stop. Financial uncertainty, losing a permanent playing spot, little opportunity to repeat concerts, new ambitions and stages of life: there are several reasons why we decided not to continue the ensemble. A sad message, but we think it is important to look back together positively on a very nice period and to end this time in a good way.
Home in the unusual
Domestica was founded in 1997 on the initiative of Wim Steinmann and a number of other musicians from the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Now, 27 years later, we look back at a beautiful period in which we contributed to the music life of Rotterdam and the Dutch. We played concerts with music from the interbellum, theater plays, operas, salons, educational programs and many concerts in the Laurenskerk Rotterdam. The red thread was that nothing seemed too crazy: classical music was placed in a different context and there were collaborations with different locations and art forms. There was always a lot of attention for young talent.
Closing concert October 19
The concert on Wednesday 12 June at 20.30 h in the Laurenskerk is hereby the last ‘regular’ concert. On Saturday 19 October at 20.00 o’clock in the Laurenskerk Rotterdam we want to make another beautiful closing, together with some of our partners from the last years. We hope that everyone who devotes us a warm heart can attend and we will keep you informed of further details via the website and this newsletter.
It remains us to thank in advance everyone who has followed us for years and supported us in any way. If you have questions or want to respond, send us a message or talk to us after the concert.
Wim Steinmann – artistic director
Eelco Beinema – programmer and cellist
Fien Duijnmayer – business leader
