Carlos Acosta Masterclass

This one is only for real ballet freaks but for those of us who love the nuts and bolts of how great art is made, this is a treat. It’s a masterclass from Carlos Acosta and Sandra Madgwick  on Frederick Ashton’s La Fille Mal Gardée   with two principals of the Birmingham Royal Ballet, Max Maslen and Beatrice Parma.

This is how the art of ballet performance has always been transmitted, from dancer to dancer, each teaching what has been done before and experiencing what is being done now. It demonstrates how even the best can still learn from those who have history in these roles and have incorporated them into their souls.

This ballet was recently performed in London at the Coliseum and, from all accounts, it has lost none of its joy.
