Just in: Berlin cancels festival due to funding cuts

Berlin’s Konzarthaus has called off its Projections festival in February due to the effects of budget cuts amounting to 1.8 million Euros.

The Konzerthaus said: ‘This cancellation makes the far-reaching effects of the current cuts clear. It represents a great loss for the Konzerthaus and its audience and for many freelance artists with whom the house wanted to work as part of the festival – a model the Konzerthaus has demonstrated with the Aus den Fugen festival in recent weeks. Berlin’s fragile cultural ecosystem is massively threatened by the cuts.’
