Message from the artistic director of the Wilhelm Furtwängler Society of China:
On Nov. 29, Prof. Dr. Martin Fischer-Dieskau collaborated with the WFSC for a special commemorative concert, conducting the Harbin Symphony Orchestra. The special event started with a lecture and salon on Furtwängler’s legacy and why the name Fischer-Dieskau is so closely related to Furtwängler, while exhibiting a small but important portion of the WFSC’s collection consisting rare programs, photos, scores, autographs and so on. Followed by a week of intense rehearsals, Maestro Fischer-Dieskau performed Furtwängler’s signature pieces by Wagner and Schubert, completely in the Furtwängler way as a wonderful homage to the great man. The concert was live streamed in China and a great success both for the audience and players.

The WFSC is a non-profit organization under the authorization of Dr. Andreas Furtwängler founded in 2021 and remains very active with a large group of members from both mainland China and of course Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau. We truly aim to make Furtwängler’s eternal artistry available for a wider audience, and maybe you can kindly spread the good words about this concert a few days ago. After all, we want the world to know that not everyone has forgotten the 70th anniversary of his death.
