Sicklist 2: Franz cancels Vienna Opera

Sicklist 2: Franz cancels Vienna Opera

Franz Welser-Möst has pulled out of the opening of the new Magic Flute, directed by Barbora Horakova, at the end of this month.

A statement from Staatsoper director Bogdan Roscic reads: ‘After successful immunotherapy, unexpected side effects occurred that made it impossible for him to participate. I know how painful it is for him not to be able to realize these ideas himself; the team at the State Opera feels the same way.’

Welser-Möst, a former director of the Staatsoper, will be replaced by Bertrand de Billy.
