Strictly’s music director dies

The BBC bandleader Laurie Holloway, whose TV career extended from Michael Parkinson to Strictly Come Dancing, has died at the age of 86.

He was married to the American jazz singer Marion Montgomery and worked closely with the composer Richard Rodney Bennett. He once accompanied the late Queen Elizabeth and her sister Princess Margaret in a recording of Scottish songs they sang as children.
