Gustavo Dudamel has only ever had one agent, an Englishman called Mark Newbanks.
His firm, Fidelio Arts, has looked after at various times Yuja Wang, Lionel Bringuier and others, but Dudamel was always the main focus.
As from today, Dudamel will be Fidelio’s only artist.
Esa-Pekka Salonen and Susanna Mälkki have been placed with other agencies. Here’s what Mark is telling the rest of the business:
Dear Colleagues,
Today is the day! After 35 years in the business, Fidelio will now focus our work only on one artist going forward, Gustavo Dudamel.
Effective today, we are transferring Esa-Pekka Salonen’s management to a new agency and, soon, also announcing new management for Susanna Mälkki. These plans have been months in the making, and I am excited about my ability to concentrate my energies and work more intensively for only one client.
It has been an incredible 14 years working for Esa-Pekka and it has been immensely pleasurable being a part of his artistic triumphs over all of those years. He is a remarkable artist and I have confidence his career will continue to flourish under his new arrangement at EMM/IMG.
