Chinese make off with top composer prizes

The 5th Basel Composition Competition gave its results today in the Paul Sacher Saal.

1. Prize: “Nine Odes to the Night” by Qianchen Lu (SFr60,000 + 5,000 audience prize)
2. Prize: “The Gaze of Nmemosyne” by Erqing Wang (SFr25,000)
3. Prize: “Bird in Space” by Ramón Humet (SFr10,000)

Lu, at 24, was the youngest of 12 finalists.
