James Conlon quits LA Opera

James Conlon quits LA Opera

The music director has declared he’s had enough after two decades in which the company has stumbled from Placido Domingo sex-pest charges to its present cancellation of new work. No-one can fault Conlon for resigning now.

Conlon, 74, also conducts the RAI National Sympphony Orchestra in Rome. He was once a contender for the Met.

Two women take up the slack in his final LA season –  Lina González-Granados and Dalia Stasevska. Either could be the next music director, of they think it’s a job worth having.
