Breaking: Berlin orders more arts cuts

Culture senator Joe Chialo has said the city needs to make further savings in addition to the 131 million euros slashed in the present budget. He’s talking of reductions of 149 million euros next year and 164 million in 2027.

Chialo, a CDU politician of the centre-right, says the cuts are non-negotiable. He spoke alarmingly of ‘austerity justice’.
