Just in: UK tenor sings role on two Vienna stages

Having two productions of Bellini’s Norma running simultaneously at the Vienna Staatsoper and Teater an der Wien has certain advantages.

Juan Diego Florez has fallen sick and can’t sing Pollione tonight at the Staatsoper.

In jumps Freddie de Tammaso from the rival cast. Tomorrow night, Freddie will sing the same role, as contracted, at Teater an der Wien.
