Boston music leader dies, 87

The music community in Boston is mourning the livewire known as Scott Nickrenz.

Scott was responsible for concert programming at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum for 26 years. Before that he was director of chamber music at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. He also directed chamber music with his wife, flutist Paula Robison, at the Spoleto music festivals in Italy, South Carolina and Australia.

He mentored many young talents. In his final days, Yo-Yo Ma played Bach at his bedside, Joshua Bell facetimed him from Rome and Jean-Yves Thibaudet played Liszt.

Scott is survived by Paula and their daughters.
