Starting today: The ultimate classical streaming chart

At a time when shrinking CD sales have made physical charts meaningless, we are delighted to have obtained exclusive publication right to the Apple classical charts, which represent global usage.

We will publish the Apple top ten every Monday until further notice.

The number of clicks has not been made public, but we are assured that verified streamings of the #1 classical record by Alice Sara Ott has run into the hundreds of thousands.

DG must be thrilled; nothing’s cheaper to make than a solo piano record.

So, drumroll….

This week’s top ten are:

1 Field, Nocturnes – Alice Sara Ott (DG)

2 Bach B Minor Mass – Raphael Pichon (HM)

3 Max Richter, Sleep (DG)

4 Brahms piano quartets – Krystian Zimerman (DG)

5 Bach concertos – Beatrice Rana (Warner)

*

6 Bach Klavier – Aaron Pilsan (Alpha)

7 Bach Goldbergs – Glenn Gould (Sony)

8 Alexis French Classical Soul (Sony)

9 Stephan Moccio, Legends &c (Decca)

10 Einaudi, The Summer Portraits (Decca)
