Berlin is stuck with Scissors Joe

Berlin is stuck with Scissors Joe

Reports that Berlin’s culture senator Joe Chialo was about to become  Minister of State for Culture in the Friedrich Merz cabinet have proved false. The next minister is to be former Focus editor Wolfram Weimer.

This is bad news on all fronts. Weimer is hardline rightwinger will little tolerance for diversity. And Chiallo is forced to remain in Berlin, where he has cut opera and orchestral subsidies by ten percent and was threatening more.

The former nightclub bouncer has no love for traditional art forms. And Berlin is stuck with him, like chewing-gum to a shoe.
