Just in: Berlin culture chief quits

The controvesial culture senator Joe Chialo who was responsible for dopuble-digit cuts across the traditional arts resigned this morning, saying he was unhappy with the cuts he was forced to make.

Chialo said: ‘Last year, I supported the requested cuts in the cultural budget with a heavy heart – aware of our shared responsibility for the city.’ He went on to say he is opposed to further cuts that are scheduled.
