Spivakov is named Hero of Labour

The violinist and conductor Vladimir Spivakov, head of Moscow’s International House of Music, has been awarded a state honour by his friend in the Kremlin.

Spivakov, 80, joins a list of hard-handed sons of toil. Others decorated on May 1  as Heros of Labour .

The others are: Deputy Head of the Russian Federal Nuclear Center Yuri Dikov, electrician-fitter of the Tver Carriage Works Vyacheslav Zintsov, tractor driver and manager of the Zori Kavkaza department Sultangirey Kostoyev and chief physician of the Second City Hospital of Gorlovka Nellya Yakunenko.
