Sax king dies, 72

The death has been made known of the American  tenor saxophone and clarinet virtuoso John Ruocco, director of the Dutch Jazz Orchestra and of The Hague Conservatory big band. He was 72.

Born in September 1952 in New Haven, Connecticut, he performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Art Farmer, Slide Hampton, Ed Soph, Beaver Harris, Teddy Edwards, Toots Thielemans and many more.
