Alexander Pereira gets suspended sentence

The former head of the Sazburg Festival, La Scala Milan and the Maggio Musicale has been found guilty in Florence on two counts of using money from the opera house without authority.

Pereira, 77, was sentenced to 22 months on probation and ordered to pay €25,909 to the Maggio Musicale, plus €1,500 in damages. He was acquitted on a larger charge of embezzlement of 35 million Euros.
