Catch this: Rare Elgar recording by Vienna Philharmonic principal cello

A new Youtube channel, Opus Obscura, has broiught out recording of Elgar’s cello concerto by the late principal cello of the Vienna Philharmonic, Franz Bartolomey. It is conducted by Sir Simon Rattle and takes extremely daring tempi.

Bartolomey, who died two years ago, was a third-generation player in the Vienna Philharmonic.
