Just in: Russian symphony orchestra is stranded in Iran

The Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra that played concerts in Teheran and Isfahan as part of the Days of Russian Culture has been stranded in Iran by the wave of Israel-Iran attacks.

No flights are presently taking off.

One of the musicians spoke to a Russian outlet:
‘The situation is unclear. For now, in Moscow, in the Ministry of Culture, they are deciding how to evacuate us. There is no decision from here yet.

‘There is an option via Azerbaijan, but you have to travel through Iran for almost a day. This is also risky.

‘The air is completely closed. Therefore, even if we send a special flight, it is also not an option. We are waiting for a decision.

‘So, it’s calm here. We are all in a hotel in Isfahan. There were explosions somewhere nearby, but nothing reached us.

‘We were supposed to be taken to Tehran airport during the day. And tomorrow at 5am we were supposed to fly out of Tehran, but naturally they didn’t take us anywhere, and we are waiting for a decision.’
