Koreans swamp competition – and win

The 43rd International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition was won last night in Bern by the South Korean baritone Geon Kim.

Out of 135 singers from 45 countries, South Korea submitted by far the most contestants – 25. This is starting to look unbalanced.

Russians came second and third – Valentina Pravdina and Valeriia Gorbunova.

The audience prize went overwhelmingly to an Armenian soprano Tatev Baroyan.
