Lang Lang becomes a chevalier

The Chinese pianist was nominated on Bastille Day in Paris as a chevalier of the Légion d’honneur in the category reserved for foreign nationals. Also elevated was the director of the Opéra national de Paris, Alexander Neef, who is a German citizen.

The French conductor Bertrand de Billy was named an officer of the the Légion d’honneur.
