Dame Cleo Laine, Schoenberg singer

The great British jazz vocalist who died today, aged 97, was a singer of exceptional versatility. Among other modern classics she performer were the Seven Deadly Sins of Kurt Weill and Pierrot Lunaire by Arnold Schoenberg. A phenomenal performer, she also starred in Sondheim’s A Little Night Music and Franz Lehár’s The Merry Widow.

Absolute legend.

And a very nice person.
