A requiem in memory of a slain Ukrainian tenor

A requiem in memory of a slain Ukrainian tenor

Some weeks ago, we reported the death in war of the renowned Ukrainian tenor Vladyslav Gorai.

Two of his close friends, soprano Liudmyla Monastyrska and baritone Vitaliy Bilyi came together in a memorial performance of Fauré’s Requiem with the Odesa Philharmonic.

Its conductor Hobart Earle tells us: ‘Everyone present that evening in the Cathedral in Odesa was still in a state of shock at the news of Vladyslav Gorai’s death a few days earlier.’
