A memorial for Bramwell Tovey

There will be a memorial concert for the renowned conductor Bramwell Tovey on the 6th April at 4pm. This will be held at his old school Ilford Country High School for Boys.

For many years, Bramwell was Music Director of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and he conducted major orchestras all round the world. Most recently, he was the Principal Conductor of the BBC Concert Orchestra until his untimely passing in 2022 at the age of 69.

The programme will trace Bramwell’s career will musical illustrations. A special orchestra of friends and colleagues will be conducted by Jonathan Small and the event will be compèred by his close friend, pianist and composer Roderick Elms.

The event will raise money for Sarcoma UK.
