Ada Sari International Vocal Artistry Competition Live

Ada Sari International Vocal Artistry Competition Live

For the first time, Slippedisc, courtesy of OperaVision streams the finals of the Ada Sari International Vocal Artistry Competition. From an initial field of over 200 young singers from 40 countries, the finalists gather in Nowy Sącz to sing to a distinguished jury, accompanied by Kraków Opera Orchestra under the direction of Marta Kluczyńska.

Held every two years since 1985 and organised by SOKÓŁ Małopolska Culture Centre, the Ada Sari International Vocal Artistry Competition was initiated by Prof. Helena Łazarska and Antoni Malczak. The competition stage in Nowy Sącz has witnessed the debuts of a number of famous Polish singers of the likes of Piotr Beczała, Gabriela Legun and Arnold Rutkowski. The competition’s patron, Ada Sari (1886–1968) was an outstanding artist in her own right, following an unusual path from dramatic soprano to coloratura soprano. In the days before worldwide streaming, she was something of a global phenomenon, who in later life nurtured generations of Polish singers.

Streamed live Friday  23 May .=2025 at 1800 CET  /  1700 London  / 1200 New York
