The vastly hyped film of the fading existence of Maria Callas secured just one nomination today at the Academy Awards – for Best Achievement in Cinematography.
The snub will be felt most acutely by Angelina Jolie in the title role and by Pablo Larraín, the director.
At its Venice Film Festival premiere, Maria received an eight-minute standing ovation.
