Anna Netrebko issues a 30th anniversary self-tribute

Anna Netrebko issues a 30th anniversary self-tribute

The ostracised Russian soprano has uploaded to Youtube a film marking her 30th anniversary on stage.

It is made and clunkily narrated by her present manager, Miguel Esteban. The film studiously avoids the hostilty she attracts as a supporter – former supporter, she insists – of President Vladimir Putin’s illegal invasions of Ukraine.

The only western interviewee in the film is the hopelessly compromised German musician Justus Franz.

Watch, if you like.
