The Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts has chosen the cellist and singer Salome Kammer to be head of its music section.
Kammer, 65, is the first woman to hold the post since the Academy’s foundation in 1948.
She is married to the distinguished Heimat filmmaker Edgar Reitz.
