Berlin Phil confirms principal horn

Berlin Phil confirms principal horn

The orchestra has congratulated Yun Zeng on passing his probationary period.

As of today he is officially solo horn with the Berliner Philharmoniker.

Yun Zeng comes from a family of musicians with a long tradition of horn-playing. Even as a child, he dreamed of playing with the Berliner Philharmoniker. Born in Sichuan, he began his studies at the Beijing Conservatory with Quan Wen in 2011 and moved to the Haute École de Musique de Genève with Bruno Schneider in 2019. He has won prizes at several major international competitions, including first prize at the 2019 Tchaikovsky Competition and second place at the 70th ARD International Music Competition in 2021. Before joining the Berliner Philharmoniker in September 2024, he played principal horn for the Staatskapelle Berlin from 2022 to 2024.
