Breaking: Bayreuth to stage its operas in China

Shanghai media are reporting that Katharina Wagner is in town to sign a three-year residency with Shanghai Grand Theatre, running from 2025 to 2027.

The deal is for Tristan und Isolde, Walküre and Tannhäuser to be staged at the Shanghai Grand Theatre with the original Bayreuth cast, costumes and stage design.

Each work will also be performed in a children’s version, the theatre said.

Let’s see how they cope with Tristan’s lust.
