Classical magazine creates political award

Classical magazine creates political award

The Limelight 2024 Australian Artist of the Year was announced last night.

Chosen by a panel of critics, Australia’s leading artist of 2024 turns out to be the British pianist Jayson Gillham.

Gillham was fired by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra after making an anti-Israel speech from the stage during the war in Gaza.

That, apparently, makes him artist of the year.
