Composer dies, 97

The Swiss choral composer François Pantillon has died, a month after his 97th birthday.

Pantillon published many tonal Christian choral pieces and cantatas before a friendship with Krzysztof Penderecki led him to a more adventurous, modern style. His opera Die Richterin appeared in 1991.

From 1986 to 2011 he was music director of the City Orchestra of Thun
