Tonight will be the last performance of Tadaaki Otaka as conductor of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. He was principal conductor from 1987 to 1995 and conductor laureate since then.
Otaka, 77, remains Music Director of the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra and the NHK Symphony.
The Welsh orchestra and chorus has issued this farewell note:
