Cutting-edge quartet is silenced by cellist’s broken arm

Cutting-edge quartet is silenced by cellist’s broken arm

The Wien Modern festival has called off four Arditti Quartet concerts over the coming week at the Konzerhaus and the Musikverein. The quartet, which is on a 50th anniversary tour, suffered a setback when cellist Lucas Fels broke his arm.

Since the programme is a cycle of Schoenberg quartets together with contemporary works, it was impossible to find a replacement cellist at short notice.

The series of four concerts will be rescheduled some time next year.
