Death of Leonard Bernstein’s son, 70

Death of Leonard Bernstein’s son, 70

Message received:

The Leonard Bernstein family is devastated to report Alexander Bernstein’s passing on July 22.
Father of Anya, brother of Nina and Jamie, devoted uncle, loyal cousin, and beloved friend to so many, Alexander was a profoundly generous and compassionate human being, inspiring those same qualities in everyone who encountered him. He was also the funniest person we’ve ever known.

No cause has been made known.

The son of Leonard and Felicia Bernstein, Alexander Bernstein was born in New York City on July 7, 1955. After studying to be an actor and teaching drama in middle school, he devoted much of his life to developing his father’s legacy. Among other activities he was founding chairman of The Leonard Bernstein Center For Learning.
