Royal Liverpool Philharmonic is delighted to congratulate its Chief Conductor, Domingo Hindoyan on his new appointment as Music Director to the LA Opera.
Domingo made his LA Opera debut in November 2024 with Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette. He will commence his role on 1 July 2026 which will run concurrently with his ongoing position as Chief Conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, a role which has already been extended since his initial appointment.
Domingo Hindoyan, Chief Conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra said: “Alongside my role as Chief Conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, I am deeply honoured to also take on the role of Music Director for the Los Angeles Opera. Much like Liverpool, LA is a city that embraces creativity and innovation, and I am excited to contribute to its vibrant cultural life, further explore my love of opera, and deepen my passion for music on an international stage. Liverpool remains my creative home in Europe and the space where I can develop my orchestral journey and continue the strong artistic partnership I have with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir. I eagerly anticipate this opportunity to continue to create music that can be shared with audiences in the US, the UK and around the world, opening exciting possibilities for collaboration and innovation.”

Domingo joined the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra as Chief Conductor in September 2021 and in 2023 extended his contract until 2028. The Orchestra recently announced the 2025-26 orchestral season where Domingo presents a varied programme that continues his exploration of music from France and the Americas as well as key symphonies from Mahler and Bruckner. Planning is already underway for their 2026-27 season and beyond. In support of Liverpool’s ambitions as an international city of culture and innovation, the Liverpool Philharmonic is planning to grow its presence overseas.
