Dudamel sweeps up three classical Grammys

Here are the classical winners, relegated this year to the industry’s bottom rung, several slots below children’s albums. Dude is still a big draw among Hollywood voters.

The LA Phil’s recording of Gabriela Ortiz’s Revolución Diamantina won Best Orchestral Performance, Best Classical Compendium and Best Contemporary Classical Composition.

As for the rest, Best Opera Performance was Saariaho: Adriana Mater.

Best Choral was won by Ochre.

Best chamber music: Rectangles and Circumstance,” Caroline Shaw and Sō Percussion

Best classical instrumental: Bach: Goldberg Variations, Víkingur Ólafsson

Best classical solo vocal: Beyond the Years — Unpublished Songs of Florence Price, Karen Slack, soloist; Michelle Cann, pianist

Best Engineered Album, Classical: Bruckner: Symphony No. 7; Bates: Resurrexit, Mark Donahue and John Newton, engineers; Mark Donahue, mastering engineer (Manfred Honeck and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra)

Producer of the Year, Classical: Elaine Martone
