Exclusive: Major string quartet breaks up

Royal Philharmonic Society prizewinners and former resident ensemble at Oxford University, the Castalian String Quartet is about to announce its disbandment.

The quartet, based in London, has been together since 2011. It changed violist last year, adding the US musician Natalie Loughran to Finnish first violinist Sini Simonen and two Welshmen, violinist Daniel Roberts and cellist Steffan Morris.
