Fanny Mendelssohn prize is reduced to a zither

Fanny Mendelssohn prize is reduced to a zither

The 2025 Fanny Mendelssohn Composition Prize has been awarded to a 29-year-old Hungarian, Abigél Varga.

She receives 10,000 euros and a commission to compose a chamber music work for zither and trumpet.

Since the announcement was made in Berlin, an irony-free zone, you’d better believe it. Can’t wait to hear the outcome.
