French mourn Japanese pianist, 64

Many French musicians regret the passing of Fuminori Tanada, pianist of the contemporary music group Ensemble Itineraire for which he also composed.

Originally from Okayama he studied ciomposition at the National University of Art and Music in Tokyo and at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique in Paris.

Michael Levinas writes: ‘On behalf of the co-founders of the Itineraire I want to say how upset we are by the disappearance of our dear Fuminori Tanada. Let’s remember: the young Fuminori integrated the route in 1991 with a new generation of instrumentalists and composers called “the second spectral generation” Today the community salutes the often discreet, pudic (and listening to others) but essential place of the composer, pianist teacher (at CNSMDP) , this member is eminent and committed to the creation of in l’Itinerary. May the musical life that opens to new horizons, honour his deserved posterity and his work Michael Levinas Honorary President of the itinerary.’
