Gatti huffs out of La Scala

Gatti huffs out of La Scala

Daniele Gatti, defeated by Myung Whun Chung in the race to succeed Riccardo Chailly at La Scala, has cancelled all his engagements at the theatre next season, according to La Repubblica.

This may be wounded feelings. Or it may be a shrewd political move to position himself for any mishap in Milan. Gatti is presently chief conductor of the Dresden Staatskapelle and of the Maggio Musicale in Florence.

La Scala, meanwhile, has secured the return of Daniele Rustioni as next Italian striker.

Watch those league tables.
