Gergiev plans backdoor return to Europe

Gergiev plans backdoor return to Europe

A concert has been arranged on July 27 at the Royal Palace of Caserta in which Valery Gergiev will conduct ‘soloists of the Mariinsky Orchestra of St Petersburg’.

This will be Gergiev’s first appearance in western Europe since Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, which he has supported.

It is understood that the  concert is being staged with the approval of Italy’s deputy minister of culture Gianmarco Mazzi. The agent involved is Alessandro Ariosi, who has fingers in many pies and a long connection to Mazzi.

The Israeli conductor Daniel Oren, an Ariosi client, is also involved. Nothing here is above board.

Details here.
