German concertmaster leaves Israel Opera

German concertmaster leaves Israel Opera

The German violinist Eckart Lorentzen brought the Isael Opera audience to its feet after playing his final performance. He joined the Israel Symphony Orchestra in 1997. Before that, from 1984 to 1987 Eckart had played with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Herbert von Karajan.

Last night, we read, ‘conductor Carlo Montanaro stood Eckart up from his seat to applause and cheers of the audience and all members of the orchestra. The first violin group gave him a bouquet of flowers in appreciation.’
